Gemma is a 5-year-old Shepherd with a heart full of love and loyalty. Her foster mom can’t say enough good things about her, calling her the most perfect girl. Gemma is happiest when snuggled on the couch with her people, leaning in for cuddles and showering them with kisses. She thrives on love and attention, making her the ideal companion for a family with older children.
Like a typical Shepherd, Gemma needs both mental and physical stimulation to stay happy. She loves having a job to do and would benefit from some formal training to keep her engaged. While she’s good with other dogs, she can be a bit nervous at first and does best when given time to build trust. Her foster home is helping her improve her reactions to other dogs and new people through barriers like baby gates, and she’s already making progress.
Gemma has a special bond with her best friend, Sissy, another female Shepherd. The two play endlessly together, and Gemma also gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home. She’s fully housetrained, good with cats, and has excellent manners inside the home.
Recently, Gemma tested positive for Lyme disease, likely a result of her past life tied outdoors with no vet care. Fortunately, her bloodwork looks great, and she’s shown no symptoms – and likely never will. Gemma is now ready for a fresh start with a loving family. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal, and affectionate companion, Gemma might be your perfect match!
